Do you ever have those days where you just are getting everything done? You are so motivated to work on your goals that you do not want to even stop and take a break. Yes, those days are absolutely wonderful! What about the days where you want to do everything, but you just can not seem to focus on what you need and want to do. It seems like you just can not get motivated and everything seems like so much work. We all have those days and on those days we need a little extra motivation. Heck, we actually need motivation every day!
Here are six different ways to help you stay motivated…
1~MAKE A TO-DO-LIST
Making a to-do list can be done on a day-to-day basis or it can be done week-to-week. I’m sure some people have their whole month planned out! Writing down what you want to get done from day to day will help you stay focused and will help ensure that you do not forget the task you want to get done. It helps me to see what I need to do and I check off each task as I complete them. I even keep a small notebook with me at all times, so that if I have an idea or think of something I need to do, I can write it down so I do not forget.
2~STAY POSITIVE EVEN WHEN NEGATIVE IS IN PLAY
Ok, this may be difficult to do at times, but you have to stay positive no matter what. Negativity seems to always show its ugly face when we are on top of our game. DO NOT let negativity slow you down. Instead, breath in and think to yourself how awesome you will feel when you accomplish your goal. Tell the negative, bye-bye, and continue on. If you have to stop and take a short walk, take a jog, or even read a book and refocus that’s ok too. Set a timer for 15 minutes and allow yourself 15 minutes to get your positive thoughts back in check and then go on working on your goals for the day. The timer will ensure that you make yourself get back on track and not wander off getting off task.
3~FOCUS ON THE OUTCOME OF ACCOMPLISHING YOUR GOAL
Whether you are working on your day-to-day goal, on a month goal, or on a year goal always focus on why you are doing what you are doing. Think of how amazing you are going to feel knowing you finished something you started. Think about how your life will change and your families life as well. Imagine how happy you are going to be! Literally, visualize how you see yourself once your goal is accomplished.
4~CUT OUT DISTRACTIONS
This may be the hardest one yet, but it must be done in order to stay motivated and to accomplish your goals. Cut out those distractions! Cut off your phone, get off the social media, turn off the TV. Take the time you would normally spend on these things and work on your goal instead. Now if you have to get on social media like I do in order to promo your blog or your reviews, etc. make sure you stay focused on that only. Don’t let an instant message from Susie Q. distract you and you set there and chat for 30 minutes. You just lost 30 minutes of time you could have been working on your goal. And after that, it may be hard to get back on track and focus on what you were working on prior to your distraction. I like to turn on some soft playing music while I work. It’s very relaxing to me and helps me stay focused on what I am wanting to accomplish.
5~DO NOT PROCRASTINATE
We all do this! However, in order for us to accomplish our goals, we can not let this become a habit for us. Procrastination is so bad! I have heard people say, “Why do today what you can do tomorrow?” Well, if we look at everything that way when will we ever get anything accomplished? Never! We have to do it today and work on something new tomorrow. That’s the only way we are going to get to where we want to get in life. Remember, we make our lives what we want it to be no one else can do that for us. If we choose to procrastinate then we choose to not fulfill our dreams in life.
6~PUT POSITIVE VISUALS IN FRONT OF YOU
Do you have some favorite quotes or pictures of ones you love that inspire you? If so, put those items where you can see them every day! Let these things inspire you, motivate you, and help you keep your mind focused on what and why you are doing what you are doing. I have quotes and pictures in my view day-to-day to help me stay positive and to keep me inspired. Especially if that negativity tries to sneak in looking at my positive visuals helps me get back to the mindset I need to have in order to continue on pushing through.
